Seed Sowing Coaching (three steps over three sessions)
This is for people who would love to get some hands on help in their garden, but also want to grow their own food from seed themselves, and could be perfect for people who cannot get to my Wednesday morning sessions in Grey Lynn. I'll not only get you started, but also come back at the key moments to help you get the best results possible.
How it works:
1) We set up a date for seed sowing (in the ascending moon phase), and I'll bring my seed collection to your space, and we'll plant up 12-18 different flowers, herbs or vegetables to suit the season. This can end up being 300-1000 baby plants, depending on what you choose.
2) We pick a date approximately 10-14 days later for transplanting the seedlings into potting mix, which we'll make from raw ingredients. (this will be in the descending moon phase) This is when one tray of baby plants becomes 4-10 boxes of seedlings, and you start to see the potential for up to $1000 worth of food or flowers.
3) We pick a third date approximately 3-4 weeks after transplanting, and move the baby plants from their intermediary pots into your garden, or into their 'forever' homes in a raised bed or mixed container.
At each step of the process I'll take a look at your compost or worm farm, and help you work out how to make the most of the garden space you are working with. It could be a townhouse courtyard or a lifestyle block - many of the techniques are exactly the same.
If you are sick of buying punnets of seedlings from the garden centre and want to try growing from seed, then 2020 could be the year to make the change.
Note: If you don't have seed trays and seed raising mix, then I recommend the seed starting kit, as this is not included in the coaching package.
